Kellen ties record, earns league's Performer of the Week honor

A record setting performance last week has earned Monmouth College’s Lauren Kellen (Mendota, Ill./Mendota) the Midwest Conference’s Performer of the Week award for women’s basketball.

Kellen posted her first career double-double and tied a school record as the Fighting Scots shattered the team scoring record in a 127-90 win over Knox. The freshman guard dished out 13 assists in the contest, tying the Scots’ record that had stood for 24 years. When Kellen wasn’t handing out an assist, she was scoring herself, pouring in 14 points on six-of-eight shooting. She also got after it on the defensive end, netting three steals in 25 minutes of action.

A biology major, Kellen also earned all-conference status last fall as a member of the women’s soccer team. She is the daughter of Greg and Rita Kellen of Mendota.
